UK nations unite for joint bid to host the 2035 Women’s World Cup.

March 5 (Reuters) – On Wednesday, the Football Associations of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales announced their intention to submit an Expression of Interest to FIFA to have the United Kingdom host the women’s World Cup in 2035.

The competition would become the first to be played in Britain after prior women’s European Championships in England in 2005 and 2022. The FIFA Council approved the recommendation of Europe or Africa as potential hosts for the 2035 tournament.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer declared wholehearted government backing for the FA’s World Cup hosting bid and added that organizing the tournament on domestic soil would create a historic chapter along with longstanding impacts in national sports heritage.FIFA said that bids for the 2031 and 2035 Women’s World Cups would be filed in late 2025, with decisions expected by mid-2026.

Mark Bullingham from the English Football Association expressed confidence about delivering an excellent tournament after the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 while emphasizing England’s impressive women’s football escalation during this period.Brazil will host the 2027 Women’s World Cup, making it the first time the tournament has been hosted in South America. The host for the 2031 event has yet to be determined.
